What do you do at Stan Sherlock Associates?

I am a Mortgage & Protection Adviser working closely with our new business partnership, Hackney and Leigh, across offices in the South Lakeland area. I am responsible for looking after clients who are looking to buy a house through Hackney and Leigh, helping them find the right mortgage and finance options to achieve their goal. I provide a professional and personalised mortgage and protection service to all our clients.

What do you enjoy the most about being a Mortgage and Protection Adviser?

In my previous career as a Fitness and Well-Being Manager and Personal Trainer for one of the largest healthcare charities in Europe, I soon realised the key to succeeding was the ability to build relationships through, trust, honesty and integrity. I did this by listening to employees and clients and identifying their needs and objectives and being there, over time, for those people to achieve those goals. I wanted a career that provided that fulfilment and offered that personalised service. Whether it be a first-time buyer, a couple who have grown into a family, someone who wants to make an investment for the future, or a parent providing financial protection for their family… it's the sense of fulfilment that I have helped someone realise their goals that is the best for me.

What has surprised you the most about working in Financial Services?

Without doubt, the importance, and dynamics of the relationship between you the clients, and us as advisers. Every person is different, every situation is different, everyone's psychology is different and it's so important that we offer an individual and personalised service.

Describe yourself in 3 words?

Easy going, determined and caring.

Would your family use the same three words?

Well I asked my wife and kids this question and got a lot of answers. My wife said affable, I had to get google out for that one, but was pleasantly surprised, she calls me many other things than that, my son said fun, and my daughter said loud.

If you had to be shipwrecked on a deserted island, but all your human needs—such as food and water—were taken care of, what two items would you want to have with you?

Definitely my phone, for so many reasons, music, photos, and the football results, but I think it would need to be modified so it can be powered by solar. Thinking far too much on this. The other would be a good pair of trainers for getting round the island and exploring.

If you could choose any superpower, what would you choose and why?

Teleporting would be fun! For one I could get off the island in the question above, but you'd never need a car, go on a plane, bus, train. Imagine a life without delays, traffic jams oh my word. And you could go to some of the most beautiful, iconic places all over the world, and in space! The options are endless! Amazing.

How can you help me?

In all honesty, all I want to do is to help you achieve your goals, whether it is now, or we make a plan to ensure we can achieve those goals in the future. I want to go on the journey with you but also provide you with the individual and personalised service you deserve.I will ensure we go through the whole process together providing the most suitable mortgage and protection advice based on your individual circumstances.Then I'll review your situation with you when you have life changing events in the future.
