What do you do at Stan Sherlock Associates?
I have been a Business Apprentice for almost 2 years and look to qualify by the end of this year. I started on reception, as part of the Business Support Team but now I specialise in mortgages. I help advisers process our clients mortgages so that they have time to support the client through what can be a stressful and complicated journey. I also work on the Yorkshire Building Society helping people manage their savings accounts.
What do you enjoy most about being a member of the business support team?
I enjoy the mortgage side of the business the most. Every case that is handed to me is different depending on the client's circumstances and needs, making the job very interesting. Even though some cases can be challenging, it is good to learn the different options that clients have and see the cases through from start to finish.
What has surprised you the most about working in Financial Services?
How much there is to learn. As I was only 18 when I started with SSA, I had very little knowledge about the finance industry and all that it involves. The job has definitely opened my eyes to the real world and given me a lot of knowledge and life skills which I probably still wouldn't have yet.

Friendly, funny, outgoing
Would your family use the same three words?
Mam and Dad - thoughtful, caring, sensitive and intelligent (they're my parents so they're allowed 4!)
If you had to be shipwrecked on a deserted island, but all your human needs—such as food and water—were taken care of, what two items would you want to have with you?
My dog Ralphy (not sure if he classes as an item), fluffy pyjamas - whatever the weather.
If you could choose any superpower what would you choose and why?
I would like to be immortal. I'd love to be able to live forever and experience as much as possible (the thought of dying is very scary). Although I'd also like to stay young and healthy.
How can you help me?
I will do my best to help a client or customer in any way I can. I can help you with any queries about your savings and investments with the Yorkshire building society and provide you with enough knowledge to make your own decisions about your accounts. I will also assist your adviser in processing your mortgage from start to finish, helping to make the journey you have with us as smooth and easy as possible.
